Teaching Contexts

Teaching is not only about the content. You must consider the context of each class. Understanding your audience (i.e. first year students, graduate students, language learners) and how your work needs to be presented (i.e. a large class, a seminar course, online learning) is vital to teaching and learning. 

First Year Courses: Taking on first year courses can have unique challenges. There can be a great adjustment when starting university and, as an instructor, you can help with this process.   

Graduate Teaching & Supervision: Leading graduate classes and seminars and supervising graduate work can be both challenging and rewarding. CTSI offers a number of resources (including the Teaching Assistants' Training Program) to assist in this work.    

Online Learning
: Research-informed guidelines, resources, examples, instructions and more to support online teaching and learning.

Community Service Learning: Meaningful learning that extends experiences beyond the classroom and university setting.
