TATP Certificate Programs

Overview, Options and Guidelines
The TATP offers two (2) certificates for University of Toronto graduate students. The Teaching Fundamentals (TF) certificate takes 1 year to complete and involves participating in 6 workshops. The Advanced University Teaching Preparation Certificate (AUTP) is more involved. It requires attending 10 workshops, completing one of our practicum components and submitting a teaching dossier and written reflection. The AUTP must be completed within a two-year period.

NEW REQUIREMENTS: As of August 29, 2011, students registering for either the TF certificate or the AUTP certificate will be required to complete a minimum number of CORE workshops. These workshops will be identified on the TATP workshop registration web page. Students can attend CORE workshops at any point during their time in the Certificate Program.

Teaching Fundamentals: Minimum 3 CORE workshops (of the 6) required (in a 12-month period)

AUTP: Minimum 4 CORE workshops (of the 10) required (over 2 years)

To receive a certificate, you must 1) register on-line (please visit the TF or AUTP certificate page to enroll) and 2) send a complete list of your attendance record to the TATP. It is your responsibility to keep track of your attendance record (including microteaching sessions or dates of in-class observations). We offer a downloadable form for Teaching Fundamentals and Advanced University Teaching Preparation certificates that you can return to the TATP to qualify for your certificate. NB: You cannot enroll in both certificates at the same time.

ADVANCED UNIVERSITY TEACHING PREPARATION CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

For the TATP certificate programs, if necessary, you may attend one (1) outside workshop delivered by another UofT office. You must have this workshop approved by the TATP office prior to attendance or it will not count toward the certificate. Please contact the TATP Program Assistant to discuss this matter. If you have a question that is not answered on this website, please contact the CTSI Programs Assistant at services.ta@utoronto.ca or 416-946-3799.
