TA Training & Development at the University of Toronto
The Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation offers training and resources for graduate students at the University of Toronto in a variety of ways.
- The Teaching Assistants' Training Program (TATP) is housed within CTSI and the two offices share resources and some programming.
- The TATP offers workshops and seminars, two certificate programs and administers the Teaching Excellence Award for teaching assistants at UofT.
- The TATP also leads Mandatory Training for first-contract teaching assistants when a department makes a training request. This mandatory 3-hours of paid training is required per the Collective Agreement between the University of Toronto and the teaching assistants' union, CUPE 3902.
This section aims to provide teaching assistants, new and experienced,
with the essentials of teaching at the University of Toronto. Ideally, a
new TA should find what they need to head into a classroom for the
first time and a returning TA can check in for a quick refresher course.
